Hi all This looks like very good pricing for these sections of fence and the gates, but note Marcus’s caution.
It’s not directly comparable with Zeal Steel’s quote for the first five metres of fencing on Alva Street as that includes one of the big ornamental fence posts and creating two new gateways.
The DCC Heritage Committee didn’t make a decision on funding that project at their meeting last month (unfortunately they got slightly confused, asked for information they already had). They’re meeting again today and hopefully there will be good news very soon — then action.
We must definitely do some community fundraising for the fence, even if its just a token effort, so please put that on the agenda for the first meeting in the new year.

Please find updated costs for the High Street School War Memorial Arch. It includes the metal fencing 5 meters either side, including the post. The painter and Frank Scurr gave me estimates yesterday, so at this stage I would be a little cautious with these (they really need to do a section to price this properly). The idea is that all possible metal work will be removed, sandblasted then coated. Frank Scurr also mentioned some repair work required to the gate.
Please let me know if you have any further queries, or would like to firm up the estimates to a quote.
