Our friends from Kati Huirapa Ki Puketeraki, who will be participating in our official opening ceremony at 2.00pm on Friday, have asked that available Toiora High Street Cohousing residents join with them in a brief blessing ceremony in the morning. 

This process of blessing (cleansing) prior to occupation is an important step for tangata whenua. 

Accordingly, and to respect for the tikanga of tangata whenua, those of us who are available can assemble at the Montpellier Street entrance to join with Teariki and kaumātua to participate in the blessing which will involve a karakia for each of our three buildings - Common House and units, Alva Street and the High Street.  This should take about 30 minutes.
