Official advice at this time is "Wherever possible design spaces so that social distancing is possible (for example ensuring good audio and video is available)"

I suggest we make zoom the primary way of attending the meeting.  If some are isolated, then we should all share that as an opportunity.

I have been to a couple of meetings lately where zoom was offered as an alternative method of participating, it does not work for that.  (Unless perhaps you have professional equipment and experienced technicians.)  People on zoom can't hear what is being said in the main meeting room, and are effectively excluded from the meeting.

So we should all attend by zoom.  Then if someone isn't being picked up by their microphone, we can tell them and that can be fixed (or not), but it affects all meeting participants in the same way.  For those that don't have computers, Jan's offer of 8 coumputers at number works and words seems ideal.  With up to 8 people there using their computers, it should be easy to stay 2 meters distant from each other.  I doubt that would be possible if we have a regular meeting in that space.

I don't believe it is necessary for us all to gather in one room, I'm thinking why would we?  We can also start including Anna and Anthony and Warren and perhaps others.

What do other people think?

Thanks,
Alex

At this stage our meeting on Thursday will go ahead.
It will be at the usual time of 7.30 (hopefully we’ll still get to hear about Rosemarie’s and Maurice’s plans at some later date).

The agenda is attached. I am sending it early as this email has important information about Zoom and also because it would expedite proceedings if as many reports as possible were circulated prior to the meeting.

We realise a number cannot physically attend so Zander has offered to set up Zoom (Zoom is like Skype but better for meetings). Prior to the meeting he will be sending a link via the Ucol membership list and those who would like to participate in the meeting from their home can use the link to download the app and then join into the meeting just before 7.30.
For those who would like to attend the meeting and become familiar with Zoom,  Jan has set up eight computers at
NumberWorks’nWords and those who wish may use them.

Another reason it is being sent early is because I’m a boomer and in the demographic currently grounded, I am asking if someone will offer to chair this meeting. If it were someone whose turn is later in the year, I would be happy to swap duties.

Take great care.
