How about a keypad like this. Punch in numbers to unlock If we put it on the foyer door, we can prop the door open during the day, say 8am to 8pm, and have it closed the rest of the time with keypad access only. There are more elegant versions available

At kakanui we had a key pad lock. So no key, just punch in the right series of numbers and the door unlocked. A bit worried about how the children are meant to get in tho

Could we not get some sort of digital access? I dont fancy a lock box either, but having to take a key every time we want access is not very home-like, and a nuisance.

Also, I remember that the lockbox was a bit of a pain when you were juggling things and didn't have enough hands to deal with the key and put it back as well. Of course, this does depend on finding the key. (I presume you have tried the one for the other door?? I'm sure you have!) I had begun an email to Stefan and Calvin (at S&W) who must have had a key. Wasn't that door replaced and so the lock must be new. I held off sending it in case someone knew where it was. But I will send it by the end of the day if no key arrives before then. As we had talked about a key pad entrance for both common house doors, can we get this in train so that its possible for anyone using the Montpelier entrance to actually get inside? ( if the door is left unlocked, all is well, but that poses other risks). Perhaps this should be on the agenda for the meeting on Thursday, along with Retractable Bollard for Alva entrance. I have checked the icecream container and none of them work. It is the only access for Sara and me. The bank and rough ground along the boundary is difficult now but will become treacherous for this frail and elderly woman if it rains.
