Hi Claire,

I'll be at the  Passive House conference this year speaking about a number of multi unit passive house projects we are working on at present including the High Street Cohousing project which lots of folks are interested in.

The Coho Hui organisers asked if someone from our group wanted to provide a quick update on our project and because I am already up in Wellington that weekend I said I could do it.

Cheers,

Tim.

Hi everyone

Have you heard about this event in Wellington this weekend – South Pacific Passive House Conference ?

Our site picture is the ‘icon’.

I guess this is the kind of thing the Passive House people were/are wanting to cooperate with us on for their marketing.

Then on Tuesday, the same faculty (Architecture and Design) is hosting the national co-housing hui, which I’ve been planning to attend. Only just getting around to booking and thinking about travel (from Hamilton). At one point I saw them saying there would be ‘presentations’ from groups including High Street Co-Housing. Yikes! Now I think what it means is me popping up for a few minutes in the pecha kucha session and updating about our project. Kind of a speed dating way of networking so that people interested know what I look like if they want to ask me more at the informal session at a bar from 4.30, lol

I wonder what the exhibition, “Cohousing Inclusive will be like? Will we be in it? We were approached?

How do we give housing agency to the city and its residents?

Housing in Aotearoa is in crisis. Whether it’s housing quality, cost or the fact that a growing number of people are living in isolation, the current approach to housing is not addressing these key issues.

There are significant challenges presented by the current housing market and the standard approach to developing housing.

There’s a growing appetite for new solutions that shift away from speculation and promote equitable, sustainable, collective models of housing.

Come join us and a range of international and local speakers for a day of talks, workshops and conversations to help bring CoHousing to life in Aotearoa.

Register for this event: cohohui.nz

The conference runs from 9.00 am – 4.30 pm, Tuesday the 12th of February, and will be followed by an informal event at the Havana Bar in Wigan Street from 4.30 - 6.30 pm.

The conference will coincide with the NZ opening of the international exhibition Cohousing Inclusive from the 12th-21st February 2019 (in the same location).

We are delighted to confirm a presentation at the conference via Zoom by Dr Michael LaFond, Founder and Director of id22: Institute for Creative Sustainability (Berlin) and presentations from a range of local cohousing communities, including CoHaus, Ohu, Earthsong, Delhi Village, High Street Cohousing, and a range of emerging new CoHousing communities from throughout Aotearoa. There will also be workshops and conversations to help bring CoHousing to life in New Zealand.
