Hi All, sorry I wasn’t there but Maria somehow took our voice there and on my request to check if it was ok to proceed to plant Tree we donated . Ginko Biloba (golden leaves and the shortest ones ) , they’re rewarded as the most beautiful in proportion from leaf to their whole structure hence our connection within the architectural & design . Also they are regarded bad the eldest tree in the world . We had a beautiful one the weekend saw growing in our years in the university in the middle of the garden were we had lovely and large talks . We are thinking on planting it tomorrow for Maia’s birthday . I understand that’s all ok for us to go ahead and do it . Sleep well . Regards Juan Puricelli Sur Architecture 022 6585021

The Garden Group will be hosting a Feedback and Q&A session in the *Common House* at *3pm* tomorrow, Sunday 15th August Please come along with comments, feedback and questions. re Thursday- & some mindfulness :)

Kia ora koutou, I missed Thursday's meeting so have been catching up with emails & Susan's report on the evening's dynamics. As far as processing the emotions Thursday evening seemed to have produced, can I suggest two mindfulness exercises which I always find very helpful & clarifying? (if you left feeling neutral & unaffected you can skip this though!). But I'm hoping this will help us all feel clearer & more at peace about it all. #1 - recall the heated or more difficult periods of Thursday night: what emotion/feeling did you experience? Be as specific as you can ('upset' is not specific :). The more specific you can be, the more helpful you should find this exercise. (I've attached here a list of feelings, as I find this helps me to be specific & to name otherwise elusive emotions). #2 - now try to name what need in you was not being met or was being thwarted in Thursday's discussion (& the disagreement that swirled around the topic). Nearly all conflict or discomfort is about 'unmet needs' in us. For example - was it the need to be heard, to be valued, to be affirmed, for fairness?, etc etc. Again, I've attached a list (universal needs) which I find helpful when trying to name those things which I sometimes find elusive or hidden to me. As with #1, the more specific the better . You can apply this process also to any emails that you have found angst provoking or insomnia invoking. After you've done 1 & 2 above it is likely you'll feel a lot 'clearer' about what's going on in your head & gut, & with that, feel less angsty. But you might also be thinking, well ok, that was good, but what now....which is something Sander & I would be happy to talk more about sometime. The plot thickens

Hi Everyone, If I can add my two cents’ worth to the great garden debate, let me first record some appreciations: To Donald and Miriam, in particular, for their planning and labour in creating the existing vegetable plots. To Marianne for providing truckloads of compost and bark, in addition to that bought by Ucol, which our cheerful collective efforts are seeing dispersed around the place. To the providers of plants and seeds that have already gone in the ground, making the site look increasingly attractive. And to everyone else who has had input into the process of establishing the gardens, whether through thinking about the best basis for determining land use, supplying the hardware to hold the vege plots together or declaring their love of the lawn. Which brings me to the point: although I have lingering affection for a grassy expanse that I helped create (I feel pain every time a truck tyre runs over it), I would be thrilled to see as much lawn as it took be turned into vege patches for everyone who wanted one. garden discussion

We have yet to see the minutes/notes so maybe we are misunderstanding what is going on? Jeffrey says min said: "The garden working group have talked at great length about how to organize the garden and what to grow and issued invitations to the community members to attend meetings to discuss these ideas or to talk to individual garden group members about the garden and give suggestions. It was assumed by the garden group that if community members did not attend these garden group meetings then they were not interested." The assumption that anyone who wanted a voice would attend a meeting is incorrect. We have deliberately left these decisions to those who will be living there. but we do care, are interested in gardening and plan to use the communal garden once we move in. but we knew the intention has always been there would be communal gardens for all to enjoy. We also know the idea of individual plots was discussed maybe three years ago. We remember because we orange or red carded the proposal and had some demands later to explain ourselves! So we always knew there would be communal gardens and felt safe to leave the detail to those currently in residence. We understand the proposal is that available garden space will be divided into allotments and given out to those, currently, who want them. so if our tenant or the new owners of A2 want a garden, or someone who has been allocated one wants to give it up, how would that be handled? Tbh with no personal garden space we might as well quit now. regds roz and michael

answer to Rainers question on meal cost

The current plan for the common house meals: they will cost $6 per adult, $3 for children under 12, bookings are made through Gather at least 2 days beforehand so the cooks know how many to cook for, Gather will send out a monthly bill and residents will pay into the kitchen account. We described some of these at a previous meeting but it will need to be tested by doing it to see how it works. We are hoping that the kitchen installation will be completed in September and we can begin cooking there on October 4th. Jeffrey
