Through the email below I have just been informed that it looks like we nearly and inadvertently caused a fire in the seminar room, by placing a chair near a heater last Sunday.

Please be mindful of the heaters. They work on timers.

Just wanted to follow up with your group as they were the last booking in the seminar room (2-7pm on Sunday 22 Sept) for a Co-housing meeting. On Monday there was very nearly a fire in the room as a chair had been placed touching one of the wall heaters, when it was noticed it was only minutes away from igniting, the back of the chair had the material burned off and singed the foam padding! We have now taken the precaution of placing notices warning about not placing items in front of the heaters, but please could you make all your group aware of this also.

Yes the spare key opens the cupboard in the Seminar room also. As the other Otago Uni staff aren't present when required we will get another guest card sorted for you. Both the card and key will be available for collection from Wednesday this week. The cost for the replacement key and card is $25.

If that spare key opens the cabinet in the room, that'd be handy. But of course it wouldn't quite help with getting into the room in the first place.

Currently people need to wait for me to arrive and open the door. Normally OK but not ideal if I can't make it on time, if at all.

There are a few fellow staff members who are part of the group but they rarely come early, so loading their cards with access wouldn't quite help often.

So just thinking, is it not possible to get a replacement card for access to the room?

If not, I'll take a look at if we as a group can register as an official External User at ITS and get a card that way.

We do have a spare key for the Seminar Room internal door. Is there anyone else who is part of your group that also works at the University as the best option is to load access to their staff card as well as yours? Please advise.

Thanks. I spoke with Nicki over the phone so it turned out all fine for this last Saturday.

The Thursday evening bookings are all correct, confirmed with her. Every second and fourth of the month. In September there's an additional one on the 5th. She's scheduled that in for us.

Where we do need a change is in the weekends. I think we have standing bookings for the last Saturday of each month. Can you please cancel those and schedule the following in:

September: Sunday 22nd 2-7pm October: Sunday 27nd 2-7pm November: Sunday 24nd 2-7pm

Let me know if any of these dates don’t work. We could probably plan for different or shorter time slots. Or else, we could keep the Saturday booking for those months.

Also, one of our members is searching for the group's key (combined card + physical key). It has not been found in the room itself, has it?

Thanks for your help with this. (The flowers left in the room last Saturday were the group's expression of thanks!)

If you use the Centre email address in the future in regards to bookings etc then Nicki whom I job share with will be able to assist you Wed-Thurs: centre-sustainability@otago.ac.nz I didn't have you booked in for Saturday the 24th August, I do however have a booking in for Saturday the 31st August 2-7pm, please advise if this should be cancelled?
