Hi All,
During the design process the question of cat doors came up a couple of time and I mentioned that there were some reasonably cost effective options available for passive houses.
The doors I was referring to are shown below.

Typically these doors will need to be installed in the walls as all the glass doors are made of toughened glass and therefore can't be cut.
We are rapidly approaching the point where we will need to finalise who wants (and is prepared to pay for) these. The doors on the web site range from USD$500 to USD$250. By the time they are imported and installed my guess is that we could be looking at around $1000-500+gst maybe more.
I have attached some images of where the doors could go in the various units.
The Alva Street units don't really have any outside wall where these doors could obviously go. In addition, according to our calculations the Alva Street block is only just reaching PH certification so a weak point like a cat or dog door could potentially push it over the edge.
The H units also don't have any outside walls which could accommodate the doors as the section of wall by the front door is a bracing wall and therefore can't be penetrated. If there are any Alva Street or H unit purchasers who definitely need a cat or dog door door please let me know. We could look at the possibility of getting doors installed within the new glass door panels.
Could I please have an indication of which units will require pet doors via return email?
