Firstly alex, please resend the chat address. I no longer seem to have it.
Secondly, Donald was right. Those of you who remember I objected to having a
maori component in the name won't be surprised to hear I was also brought
up, by my bilingual mother, to know it was the height of bad manners to
speak or write something knowing one or more of the recipients would be
unable to translate it.
Thanks for the mention in the minutes. We are fine here. In fact, while you
are all on day 4 of lockdown, we started with 8 days of self isolation. Not
much different really to normal life for us as we can get out in the garden
and walk on the beach and our views are still there.
If you didn't catch up before, we headed off to argentina on 13th, having
checked it was still ok to do so, to join the cruise to Antarctica. Arrived
in Buenos aires and 24 hours later the cruise was cancelled so we came all
the way back. Sorting out all the possibilities for credits and refunds is
filling my time nicely. So then into self isolation.
Our daughter sorted out groceries for us and we plan to hit green island
once a fortnight for replacements. Tho our neighbours are great and offers
of help started before we even got home.
Also we have family around, some of it. zoe, mark and the children were
offered evacuation from Mozambique but, while they weighed up the pros and
cons, other teachers who had made instant decisions, were being turned back
at the airport. So they are stuck in mozi.
Tori is working from home at aramoana, xaves and mika are essential, tho I
keep teasing xaves as there have been suggestions the guards might do
sleepovers. He tells me they get to use staff bedrooms, not cells. And gary
is out there giving you free bus rides.
So all good with us and the children so far.
I am repainting the entrance and stairs, nonu how did a dog get sand on the
ceiling??? And michael is doing things with pipes and tree stumps.
For those of you who have yet to hear of our decision we have decided we
won't be moving to ucol when it is finished. One of our main reasons for
signing up was the dire predictions of my specialist about degeneration etc
etc. none of which seem to be coming true, at least so far. So we plan to
stay here as long as we can and as long as we can still drive. In the
meantime we will rent out our unit.
So that is us, we are fine, hope you all are too and hope this has filled a
wee bit of your lockdown time. Regds roz and michael
